District residents and visitors have been given one more reason to visit Dimboola when it hosts a Human Powered Vehicle event later this year.
Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford, announced on Monday that Hindmarsh Shire Council has secured the Human Powered Vehicle event thanks to funding through the Government’s Regional Events Fund.
Major events mean big business for Victoria’s regions with the Human Powered Vehicle event expected to attract up to 400 people and generate valuable income for Dimboola and district.
Following a successful trial of the event last year attracting 150 participants, riders and support teams, Hindmarsh Shire Council will be hosting a similar event in mid-2018.
Ms Pulford said the state government is supporting this event through the $20 million Regional Events Fund which helps rural and regional communities all over Victoria stage and secure the events which bring visitors from far and wide.
“We’re proud to help bring the Human Powered Vehicle event to Dimboola. It’s events like these that keep our pubs, cafes, motels and caravan parks busy, and puts Dimboola on the map for tourists,” Ms Pulford said.
“Our Regional Events Fund is helping to grow an enviable calendar of events and that means more jobs and stronger economies across our regions,” she said.
