ON Tuesday May 14 Willenabrina CWA members celebrated their
68th birthday with a mystery tour.

First stop was Kaniva for coffee and a short informal meeting before lunch.
Resolutions for the upcoming State CWA Conference were discussed with members expressing their feelings about the various resolutions and how they would like delegates to vote.

The State CWA Performing Arts Festival is to be held in Ballarat on July 20 commencing at 9am.

Following lunch and a quick visit to the Op Shop members traveled to Serviceton for a tour of the historic Railway Station.

The Station was completed in 1886 when each state had different rail gauges and trips between Melbourne and Adelaide meant that all pas-
sengers and freight had to be transferred from one train to another.

The Station was open 24 hours a day with large Din- ing and Refreshment room, Kitchen, Waiting rooms, and Customs Office where prior to Federation in 1901 a fee was charged on all goods brought
from South Australia to Victoria.

A basement area was used for Guards and Porters rooms, storage and temporary holding area for prisoners between trains.

The group was shown around by local Les Milliken who made the afternoon enjoyable for all members. The Station closed in 1986.
