HANDOVER: Warracknabeal CFA group officer Colin Newell, hands over the helmet and the position to first deputy Mick Morcom on July 1.

WARRACKNABEAL CFA group officer Colin Newell will handover to
first deputy Mick Morcom on July 1.

After 12 years as group officer, Mr Newell is taking a step back but will still be involved as Occupational Health and Safety officer.

Mr Morcom said after six years as first deputy, he is happy to step up and take the responsibility.

“Col will still be involved in various positions within the group, but after 12 years I think he is entitled to take a step back,” Mr Morcom said.

Mr Morcom has been involved in the CFA since he was a child, starting at around 16 years of age and was involved in the Kellalac CFA.

Mr Morcom said Cameron Whelan will take over his position within the group as first deputy. Mr Newell said he is appreciative of the support he has received over the years as a member and as group officer.

“I want to thank the brigades and Warrack Home Timber and Hardware for their support for allowing me to disappear at short notice,” he said.
