CUBS from the Wimmera District gathered at Dimboola on Sunday for their annual Billy Cart Derby.
In beautiful winter weather and blue skies, teams from Warracknabeal, Horsham, Rainbow and Kaniva took part in the exhilarating event.
There were 30 Cubs, along with their families and supporters who took part in all the fun and activity.
There were two main events, the downhill event started at the Dimboola Fitness Centre down to the end school road.
After they all enjoyed lunch, the scouts took part in the ‘cross country event’ on a course behind the old hockey ground. Each team was timed
in the two events and the results are averaged to decide
winners and placings.
“The winning team was one of our billy carts and the whole group were thrilled,” Group Leader Glenyce Liersch said.
The team, who called themselves ‘Adventurers’ consisted of Riley and Tyler Templeton and Riley Bish.
“It was a great day of very competitive racing on both the downhill and cross country race courses and the kids had a fantastic time,” Glenyce Liersch said.
