• Kirsten Boyle, Alannah James and Lucas Doxey work together as part of the Chemistry competition.

Rainbow P-12 College year eleven chemistry students Kirsten Boyle, Alannah James and Lucas Doxey have taken part in this year’s Royal Australian Chemistry Titration Stakes Competition.
The competition required teams of three students to perform a simple acid based titration test over one and a half hours. There is the practical side to the test of preparing a solution and the theory side of performing the calculations required. The teams are judged on how close they get to the actual values with the least amount of errors.
Kirsten, Alannah and Lucas did extremely well in finishing 33rd in the state with the top forty four teams progressing to the national competition.
In doing so they finished ahead of some teams from highly ranked private schools in Melbourne, a great achievement from these students from a small rural school.
