It is alleged a 16-year-old female was approached by a male unknown to her at the Longy Seeders and Strippers B&S Ball at the raceway and sexually assaulted.

Police arrested a Craigieburn teenager who attended the pre-ticketed, over 18s event.

He has been released pending further inquiries. No charges have been laid.

The Horsham-based Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team is now involved.

The popular annual event is in its 15th year and attracted 1500 people.

A Public Order Response Team, PORT, a specialist team from Melbourne, was in Horsham at the time and able to assist with the investigation.

PORT's leader Senior Sergeant Pat Ryle and team members were in the vicinity of the raceway carrying out breath tests as part of a four-day operation targeting crime and other issues in the region when they were diverted to the case.

The Horsham Times has been unable to determine what time the alleged crime occurred and whether the victim was from the immediate area or had travelled to attend.

It was not known how patrons were vetted to ensure they complied with the over-18 age limit.

Pre-event advertising carried the words: "No ID, no entry".

A Longerenong College spokesperson said the college had no connection with the ball or its organisers.
