Barry continues successful month

It's been a busy month for Josh Barry, not only winning another gold at the Para National Lawn Bowls championships at Broadbeach on October 9-12 but also notching up his 250th game for Warracknabeal in their pennant match against Beulah on Saturday, October 19.

Barry bowls for the Warracknabeal Gold side and did well in his rink, which featured Noreen Belot, Robyn Goodwin, and Rodney Sinclair. Unfortunately, they lost 20-25, and Warracknabeal lost overall, 73-69, in a thrilling contest.

Barry has been a member of Warracknabeal for 31 years and didn't play for ten years, leaving 248 games. He returned this season. He also plays for Clayton in Melbourne. He loves the bowling club because of its friendliness and support.

Barry has represented Victoria on 23 occasions at the Para National Lawn Bowls championships, which feature teams of ten, six men and four females, from all states.

He won gold with Barry Brennan in the pairs and was third in the B7-B8 singles category.

Barry enjoyed the nationals, which was rained out on the opening day.

"It was a good week in Broadbeach, and on the first day, we played one game and three ends and then got 100mm of rain," Barry said.

"We played the next three days in good conditions. The greens ran well, and it was an enjoyable week.

"It's just another medal on the wall, but it's good and was fun in Broadbeach."
