Bester awarded National Emergency Medal
In the midst of the chaos in East Gippsland’s January 2020 bushfires, Warracknabeal’s Gary Bester was on hand to rally nearly 100 veterans from the Seymour RSL Sub Branch, and lead them in a charge against the raging fires.

The team of veterans came equipped with their own food, fuel, axes and chainsaws, and for this, Mr Bester was awarded a National Emergency Medal for rendering sustained service during Operaiton Veteran Assist.
Mr Bester was presented with the award by Warracknabeal RSL president Graeme Massey at the branch’s March 25 meeting.
