“Fruit fly have emerged in the recent warmer weeks,” RDLG president Bruce Heinrich said. “Together, let’s get on top of this pest."

Rainbow Landcare is providing monitoring traps and control solutions for residents to take home and use to help control fruit fly at home.

“We want to gather information to map the spread across the town, so feedback is valuable, and there will be a reply request with the traps,” Mr Heinrich said.

The traps and premix control solutions will be available from Ismay’s Hardware Store on Saturday mornings October 5 and October 19, with Landcare members on hand to discuss their use.

“All you need to do is follow the advice on where to position the traps and how to apply the spray,” Mr Heinrich said.

After receiving a grant from Murra Warra Wind Farm earlier in the year, the group is also able to launch its Rabbit Buster workshop.

“We want to help our community tackle the local rabbit problem,” Mr Heinrich said.

“We are already working with council, landowners, and managers out at Rainbow Rises to control rabbits out there.”

The free workshop on Wednesday October 9 will run from 10am to 3pm, and will discuss the latest techniques for rabbit control in and around Rainbow.
