Binney excelling in top grade
Pimpinio teenager Ada Binney played her first season in A-grade and excelled, improving as the season progressed.
Binney shot 176 goals in 16 games. In their round 11 win against the Swifts, she shot a game-high 25 goals at goal attack in their 44-40 win.
Binney also played 17-and-under, scoring 283 goals in 18 games. She shot 28 verses Noradjuha Quantong, which was a season-high.
Binney was also identified in the netball talent identification program, and she went to Melbourne to try out for the state team.
The other highlight was winning the Blue Ribbon Spirit of Netball award in round 17.
Binney enjoyed her first season in senior netball and spoke about her experiences during the year.
"I enjoyed my first season of A-grade as I learned a lot," Binney said.
"My coach, Jayde [Ellis], helped me learn new skills and helped me develop my abilities.
"It was also good to get to know the girls and make those friendships, and I look forward to what we can do next season."
"Playing in the under-17s wasn't too bad as it kept my fitness up, and I love working with both teams."
"My Blue Ribbon award was amazing. I wasn't expecting it, but it was nice to receive it."
"It was also good to try out in Melbourne. It was a good experience. There were amazing girls there, and it was good to see everyone and pick up some skills as well."
When asked what she has learned and can improve on, Binney highlighted various things. The good news for Pimpinio is that she isn't going anywhere.
"Working around the ring and shooting and developing my fitness and skills," Binney said.
"I just want to continue my netball skills for the next few years, stay with Pimpinio and continue my shooting skills and working with the team.
"I will continue to practice, look at how other girls go about it and develop my skills from them."
