Equal second favourite and 2023 Donald Cup winner Mister Mee took the early lead with Chatres box-seating behind him. Prince Eric was third, and Savoir Faire was fourth as they travelled single-file around the course.

The pace was high, and those four horses were eight lengths ahead of the rest of the field.

Heading around the final corner, Chatres got out and took the lead. Prince Eric and Savoir Faire fought hard in the straight, bumping into each other, and it was the latter that got clear in the closing stages to try and chase down Chatres, but Chatres had too big of a gap and went past the post first. Prince Eric and Mister Mee were in a photo for third.
