Council explores alternative care

As families in Hopetoun continue to juggle care arrangements for their children following the closure of the Uniting Vic Tas facility in April, the organisation has assured residents they are still searching for staff.

However, Yarriambiack Shire Council released an update on June 7 stating they are "exploring alternative options".

In the fortnightly update on council's webpage, Uniting Victoria Tasmania program manager for the Wimmera Kate Farlow said all three vacant roles were being advertised across numerous sources, and the organisation is working with council and the Department of Education to find a solution.

"I’m pleased to advise we received an application from a candidate who enquired about the Service Leader role last fortnight," she said.

"Arrangement for an interview is underway."

"However, we've had contact from interested candidates to chat through the roles and we’re awaiting their applications," Ms Farlow said.

Ms Farlow acknowledged how council and the community had rallied to offer solutions, and urged locals to keep sharing the advertised positions.

In the meantime, council is in preliminary discussions with Emerge Early Learning Services who service 12 childcare facilities in Rainbow, Jeparit, Nhill, Horsham, Natimuk and Stawell.

"We have provided data to their board for consideration and aim to commence discussions with their Acting CEO in the coming weeks," council said in their latest newsletter.

"We are committed to finding a solution and are exploring all options to secure childcare for our community."
