Cr Tim Meyer to serve as mayor, Cr Jodie Pretlove deputy mayor.
The West Wimmera Shire Council has elected Cr Tim Meyer as the mayor at the annual statutory meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Cr Meyer returns to the role for a third term, and has been on the council since 2020.
"I thank my fellow councillors for this opportunity. In the past few years, we've put in a lot of work, and I know what we have ahead of us," he said.
"I'm looking forward to the year ahead and I really feel we can hit the ground running and get things done."
A focus Cr Meyer will have in the term is the continual improvement of community assets.
"We must also continue to advocate for grants from the state and federal governments," he said.
"We need to continue to push for more funding and support for our roads."
Cr Jodie Pretlove was elected deputy mayor at the annual statutory meeting.
Cr Pretlove was first elected to Council in 2016 and served six previous times as either mayor or deputy mayor.
Councillors also acknowledged the work of former mayor Bruce Meyer, who was retired following redistribution of votes in the 2024 local government election.
Mr Meyer was first elected to the Shire of Kaniva in 1993 and was in inaugural mayor of West Wimmera Shire Council in 1997.
