Dane Smith trains two at Wycheproof

Stawell horse trainer Dane Smith trained two winners at the Wycheproof races on Saturday, November 2.

In race six, Take the Prize, ridden by Sheridan Clarke, saluted, and in race seven, Ovabent, also ridden by Sheridan Clarke, saluted.

The main event on the card was the Elders Mt Wycheproof Cup, ridden over 1800m. Bannerton, ridden by Nathan Punch and trained by Austy Coffey won in the last stride ahead of Samurai Star and Jefferson, the latter also trained by Austy Coffey and ridden by Rose Hammond.

Austy won the Wycheproof Cup previously in 2016 and 2017 with Country Cup Horse of the Year, Vianden.

It has been a great two weeks for the Coffey family, with his son, Harry, riding Duke De Sessa to victory in the Caulfied Cup.
