Donald Jeffcott still lead the way

Donald Jeffcott is still two games clear on top in the Wimmera Mallee Cricket Association's A-grade season following a tough round-five win over St Arnaud at the Donald Recreation Reserve.

St Arnaud won the toss and was bowled out for 102 after 37 overs, with Jacob Patching top-scoring with 38. Daniel Atkins was the pick of the Donald-Jeffcott bowlers with 3/16 (8).

In reply, Donald Jeffcott chased the total down in the 30th over, finishing at 7/103. Lachlan Jones top-scored with an unbeaten 30, while Matthew Delzotto was the pick of the St Arnaud bowlers, with figures of 2/5 (4).

At Anzac Park, St Marys and Birchip battled out a thriller, with Birchip claiming victory. After winning the toss and batting, Birchip lost both openers for ducks but recovered and reached 110 before they were bowled out, led by Rylee Smith with 20.

Brodie Dennes was sensational for St Marys, claiming 6/22 in a blistering spell and taking the first three wickets of the match.

The Birchip bowlers made it challenging for St Marys, with Rylee Smith and Connor Lee leading the way with 3/15 (7) and 3/17 (5.3), respectively, as they bowled St Marys out for 101. William Allan top-scored for St Marys with 22.

At Hopetoun Recreation Reserve, Marnoo defeated the Southern Mallee Giants by three wickets in another low-scoring match.

After winning the toss and batting, the Giants were bowled out for 94 in the 33rd over, with Clinton Castleman top-scoring with 29. Ted Caldwell was the pick of the Marnoo bowlers with figures of 3/19 (7).

In reply, Marnoo chased the total down in the 25th over, finishing at 7/95 with Brylie Cameron leading the way with 25 and Jimmy Duxson with 21. Jackson Moore was sensational for the Giants, taking five wickets and finishing with 5/17 (8).

In the B-grade competition, Charlton moved a game clear at the top of the ladder following a four-wicket win over Donald Jeffcott at Charlton Park.

After losing the toss and bowling, they restricted Donald Jeffcott to 9/147, with Patrick Soulsby claiming 4/21 (8). Thomas Reekie top-scored for Donald Jeffcott with 74.

In reply, Charlton chased the total down after 32 overs, finishing at 6/154 with Sujeesh Mohan Mohanan Sreekala top scoring with 44. Colby Anderson was the pick of the Donald Jeffcott bowlers with 2/36 (7).

At Watchem Cricket Ground, an unbeaten century to Ty Colbert has led the Watchem Panthers to a massive win over the Southern Mallee Giants.

After winning the toss and batting, Watchem finished with 6/289, with Colbert hitting 127 (135) in an innings featuring 12 fours and one six. Kybe Bellinger was the pick of the Giants bowlers with 2/57 (8).

The Panthers bowlers then ripped through the Giants batting lineup led by Lukshan Kasthuriarachchi with 4/1 (3) and Connor Boyle, 3/7 (8) as they bowled the Giants out for 55 in the 20th over. Dale Shannon top-scored for the Giants with 21.

In the other match, Birchip forfeited to St Marys.
