Double for George

Beulah trainer Garry George held training honors this week training a winning double at the Horsham Greyhound Club’s regular Tuesday meeting. It was a fruitful night for local trainers with winners also led in by training duo Tracey Salter and Greg Turnbull with kennel star Lighting Jedda and Bill and Helen Hartigan with Gypsy Ordain.

But it was George who struck twice firstly with Crank It, who was on debut, beginning
moderately he railed well joining the leaders entering the corner, after being galloped on
through the bend Crank It stood firm and continued to rail turning for home in front, he was
made to work hard all the way down the home straight but held on by a neck to greet the
judge first in 23:69sec.

George then led out Moonlight Grand who jumping from the wide draw mustered up quickly to sweep around the field taking the lead on the point of the corner to skip away a two-length leader, short odds on pop Paw Oswald powered home but Moonlight Grand was just to strong and held onto win in the smart time of 23:32sec.

Training duo Tracey Salter and Greg Turnbull produced their talented sprinter Lightning
Jedda in the mixed grade event over the 410m journey. Jedda jumped straight to the front
and was simply in another class dashing away to be a comfortable winner in the slashing
time of 23:09sec.

Horsham trainers Bill and Helen Hartigan rounded out the meeting with a hard fought victory, owned locally by the HPJK syndicate which is headed by Matt Papst and Shannon Hoffmann Gypsy Ordain only began moderately from box four but was able to muster up to third entering the corner then producing a brilliant railing display to turn for home in front and was never going to be run down from that position stopping the clock in a nice 23:59sec.
