Locals tuning in to Channel 7 this week may have seen a familiar face, with Wilkur’s Karli Hinkley appearing as a contestant on the latest season of Farmer Wants A Wife.

Ms Hinkley, 32, currently lives in Geelong, but grew up on the family farm in Wilkur, making her a prime candidate for life in the country with Queensland’s Farmer Bert.

Ms Hinkley said she put her hand up to compete for the heart of the fourth-generation dragonfruit and pineapple farmer from Wamuran because of their similarities.

"Having been brought up in the country myself, I feel like Bert's outlook on life - his interests and morals - align with mine," Ms Hinkley said.

She added Farmer Bert should know that she likes to be busy.

"I have a work ethic like no other," she said.

"I will always be there for you, no matter what, and I never give up."

She said her family once compared her to the iconic Fantale lolly - hard on the outside but soft on the inside.

After the first interviews aired on Monday and Tuesday night, fans were quick to name Ms Hinkley a favourite, convinced Farmer Bert would see she is the right girl for him.

"She was my pick last night straight away," one user wrote in a Facebook group.

"Seems [so] genuine."

"She looks lovely and natural, I think they would be perfect together," added another commenter.

"She handled his shyness well," another person said.

On Instagram another fan agreed: "Roll the credits, he's done," the fan said.

Ms Hinkley has also been causing a stir on the internet, with fans comparing her appearance to Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.

After their date initially, Ms Hinkley seemed taken by Farmer Bert.

"Bert seems like a very genuine, caring, kind person," Ms Hinkley told viewers.

"He's genuinely pretty special."

Farmer Bert agreed there was a bit of a spark there.

But the first week wasn't totally drama-free for Ms Hinkley, as viewers on Wednesday night witnessed the other contestants accusing Ms Hinkley of being clingy.

April, who was later disqualified, even took Farmer Bert aside to express her dislike of Wilkur's favourite gal.

This isn't the first time local faces have been spottted on the show.

Hopetoun’s Devon Mill broke hearts all over Australia searching for true love in 2010, before finding her away from the silver screen, closer to home.

In 2022, Berriwillock’s Will Simpson found his perfect match when the show introduced him to his now-wife, Jessica Cova.

Ms Hinkley will continue her quest to win Farmer Bert's heart over the four other candidates on Sunday 7pm.
