Five winners for George

Garry George had a week to remember training five winners and numerous placegetters at Horsham and Warrnambool over the past seven days, while Andrea Gurry tasted victory at Warrnambool in flying time with Cortez Bale.

George (Beulah) started the week at Horsham on Tuesday, where the versatile Take The Steps showed good early speed to jump with the early leaders and enter the corner in second position, he was then able to wear down early leader Miss Patsy, grabbing her on the line to win in a smart 23:47sec.

George then ventured to Warrnambool on Thursday, and Show Cause used her inside draw to perfection. Following early leader Blessed Rain, she settled second entering the turn but gave up a huge four-length margin, which looked too far. Show Cause dug deep and reeled in the margin, grabbing Blessed Margin right on the finish line to win in the smart time of 25:30 seconds.

George then trained a treble on the Horsham Saturday night race card in a great training effort; Mean Peace jumped straight to the front using her electric early speed and put the race to bed early on, winning in 23:71sec.

Scooba Steve was then sent out a $1.30fav with punters and looked in early trouble after missing the start and tangling up with other dogs, but was able to use his good field sense working hard throughout to take control halfway down the straight, going away a three-length victor.

Take The Steps then backed up Tuesday’s victory, winning again Saturday, jumping straight to the front Take The Steps was ultra-impressive, giving nothing else a chance, winning by three lengths in 27:61sec

Andrea Gurry (Nhill) struck at Warrnambool when Cortez Bale absolutely flew the lids, setting a cracking early split and breaking the field up to set up a race-winning lead. Turning for home well clear, Cortez cruised to victory in a flying 21:93sec.
