Frances is the star of her show
Family and friends gathered at the Community Centre recently to celebrate Frances Casey's 80th birthday.
She was honoured to have all of the family present: Anthony and Carolyn (Adelaide), Justin and Annie (Sydney), Will and Tracey (Bendigo), Lisa and Troy (Geelong) and families, Damian and girls (Highton) and - unexpectedly - Stephen from Canada.
Frances' sisters Anne and Joan, sister-in-law Anne and brothers Laurie and David also attended.
Anthony served as MC and welcomed all to enjoy the very special event.
A light luncheon was served by the ladies from the Golf Club, accompanied by background music from Ken Taylor and Les Paten.
Frances grew up on the family farm at Yeungroon and spent her early years in Charlton before meeting Leo.
Moving to Birchip as a teacher's wife, she became involved in the community following on from her parents example of community spirit. Moving schools to Sea Lake and Warracknabeal with six children was challenging, but she gained many incredible friends along the way.
Anthony presented a Powerpoint display of some of her life experiences, including her love of family, junior sports, youth activities, Girl Guides, and supporting others at St Mary's.
He then introduced his Dad, Leo who shared his loving friendship and life experiences with Frances.
Justin, Stephen, Will and Damian added their own family stories of their mum, and Lisa added her love and support and advice.
Grandchildren Macey, Sophie and Ruby shared their stories of great times with Granny. Brother Laurie shared many Cossar family memories.
Frances thanked all for celebrating her birthday and for sharing the many memories since October 30, 1943. A birthday cake was made and decorated by past Guide Amber, and grandson Ned helped Frances blow out the candles on his 11th birthday.
It was a memorable birthday filled with family and friends of all ages, and much appreciated by Frances.
