At their annual meeting, club president Dan Smith and general manager Glenn Carroll announced CEFC as the recipient of the Major Community Project Sponsorship of $50,000.

In their application for sponsorship CEFC reported some of their current vehicles were not suitable for the task.

"The CEFC would like to purchase a commercial van that volunteers can use for these collections," the application read.

"This will allow for easier collection of donated and purchased goods.

"The transport of these goods will also be safer.

"Because of restraints with space, some of our non-perishable foods need to be stored off-site.

"A vehicle will assist us to transport these goods from storage to the Food Centre as required.”

HSCC president Dan Smith said the club was proud to support its community in many ways and thanked the 639 members who participated by voting for their favourite project.

CEFC client assessment manager Bev Miatke shared her gratitude and said the funding meant so much to the volunteers.

"They would normally use their own vehicles to pick up food from our generous community partners all around Horsham," she said.
