On Tuesday, Baxter kicked things off when Venetian Blue broke her maiden in the first race on the card at Horsham. Venetian Blue jumped straight to the front from the inside draw and never looked in doubt, using her early speed to set up a race-winning break and cruising to a comfortable victory in 23:59sec.

Mean Peace for Garry George then made it two wins for the locals on the Horsham card when she won her fourth race on the bounce to improve her record to four wins and a second form five starts.

The highly promising chaser again exploded soon after the box rose and broke the field up with her magnificent early speed. Mean Peace was never challenged and went home close to a four-length victor in her best of the day, 23:26sec.

George then ventured to Shepparton on Friday night and returned with a winning double when Show Cause and Lilydale both saluted.

Show Cause sat on the leader’s back throughout the run and looked as though she was going to be denied the run she was looking for, but on cornering, the run opened for her, and she took it perfectly, rounding up the leader and putting her head in front to greet the judge first in 25:51sec.

Lilydale then stepped out and was simply dominant. Jumping straight to the front, she demolished her rivals, winning by six lengths in a flying 25:25sec to improve her record to six wins and six placings from seventeen starts.
