World Kindness Day encourages and promotes the importance of being kind not only to each other but also to yourself and the world.

College students acknowledged the day by indulging in hot jam donuts - with funds from the sale of the tasty treat going towards the Salvos Toy Run.

Chaplin of the College, Yolande Grosser, said $827 was raised.

"Students took the opportunity to write a card for a nursing home resident, express kind thoughts through the Headspace pinboard and spread kindness throughout our community by buying $2 hot jam donuts," Ms Grosser said.

Particularly exciting for the students was the attendance of three Harley Davidson bikes with their riders, who are involved in transportation for the Toy Run.

"They were hugely popular, although they did have competition from Louie, Headspace’s therapy dog, who was never without a kind student to hug and pat him," Ms Grosser said.

Horsham Harley Owners' Group members said the contagious smiles on the children's faces was priceless.

Equally impressive was their commitment to match the amount raised dollar for dollar, ensuring a bumper $1654 total contribution to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.
