Hartigan's and Baxter strike doubles
Team Hartigan (Horsham) and Heather Baxter (Murtoa) both trained winning doubles, while the Hartigan team also struck on Friday night rounding out a massive week for the camp. In total, Friday night alone saw five of the seven races go the way of the locals.
Major Mike kicked it off for team Hartigan, jumping midfield he railed through to second on the corner and on straightening Mike balanced up and railed under early leader Imposter going away a nice winner in 23:48sec.
Talkin Bluey then brought up the kennel quinella, jumping midfield he was able to find the fence on cornering and straightened for home in front, challenges were laid down but Bluey held strong going home a half of a length victor in 23:66sec.
The team also struck Friday night when Zipping Gian led all the way over the 410m journey to win by the large margin of six lengths in the time of 23:65sec.
Numerous for Doug &Paul Hammerstein (Ararat) took out the Free For All event on
Tuesday’s race card coming from off the pace to win well.
Heather Baxter (Murtoa) highlighted the Friday night card training a winning double including the exciting new prospect Fleetwood Odin. Having its first start for Baxter, Odin showed he could be a serious up and comer jumping straight to the front and winning by six lengths in the fast time of 23:27sec.
Baxter struck again with Venetian Blue two races later whom like her kennel mate showed great early speed to set-up a race winning break greeting the judge in 23:64sec.
Committee Member Ian Robinson broke through with Pyrenees Prince whose return to
racing has been a great story, Prince broke his leg some twelve months ago so the success
story for both greyhound and trainer must be well acknowledged for the months of physio
that have taken place. The prince crossed the line near on leading all the way a two-length victor in 23:78sec.
Andrea Gurry (Nhill) completed the local run when Circle The Space showed great early
speed, taking control of the race early doors leading by four lengths early and then dug deep late to hold onto to that lead winning in 23:57sec.
