Cr Ismay presided over the November meeting in Nhill last Wednesday morning.

In deliberations lasting just under 40 minutes, council considered recommendations from its officers for roadworks funding and swimming pool charges and received the financial report for the first quarter of the current financial year.

Councillors heard that at September 30, Hindmarsh Shire was holding $16.91 million in cash.

This included a surplus is $13.13 million against a budget of $7.74 million.

Expenditure on capital works in the July-September period was $924,000 of the budgeted $1.52 million.

“The variance is largely due to phasing of budgeted road projects,” CEO Monica Revell said.

Mrs Revell told council the higher-than-expected surplus was “predominately due to the Financial Assistance Grant for 2024-25 that was budgeted to be received quarterly (having been) paid in July”.

Council’s final meeting for 2024 will be held on Wednesday December 18.
