Horsham Calisthenics' Youngest Team Shines in First Competition
Horsham Calisthenics Club’s youngest competing team made their debut at the Coastside Competition in Melbourne on Sunday, August 18th. The Sub-Junior team, consisting of 15 girls aged 7 to 10 years, took to the stage for the first time this year, marking an important milestone in their calisthenics journey.

For many of these young performers, this was their first experience not only on stage but also in a competitive environment. Despite the initial nerves, the girls delivered an impressive performance, earning three Highly Commended awards in Clubs, Rods, Aesthetics, and Song and Dance. Additionally, they secured 3rd place in March, Clubs, Rods, and Freearm.
Coaches Lauren Dempsey and Caitlin Devlin were full of praise for their team’s efforts. "The girls worked so hard for their first competition of the season. For some, it was their first competition ever! They loved being on stage and putting all their hard work in class into practice," said Lauren.
Caitlin added, "The girls competed incredibly well over the weekend and received positive feedback from the judges. They have all worked so hard throughout the year so far, and it has paid off. Our assistants have been a massive help, and we can’t thank them enough for their work with the girls, helping them prepare for each item and supporting them on stage."
With their first competition under their belts, Lauren and Caitlin are eager to see the Sub-Juniors return to the stage at the upcoming Horsham Calisthenics Competition this weekend. The coaches are confident that the team’s experience in Melbourne will boost their confidence and performance in the competitions to come.
