Horsham City defeat Sunnyside in thriller

The Horsham City Bowling Club has remained unbeaten following a thrilling 66-64 win over Sunnyside at Sunnyside Bowling Club on Saturday. Coughlin Park also remains unbeaten after a comfortable victory over Goroke/Edenhope.

The Horsham City Bowling Club has remained unbeaten following a thrilling 66-64 win over Sunnyside at Sunnyside Bowling Club on Saturday. Coughlin Park also remains unbeaten after a comfortable victory over Goroke/Edenhope.

The match between Sunnyside and Horsham City would always be close, and while both teams won a rink, another rink tied.

Sunnyside won rink one, skippered by John Ackland and featuring Dale McRae, Barry McIntyre, and Jillian Coutts, defeating Daniel Gloury (skipper), Bruce Campbell, Bryan Avory, and Derek Ballinger 25-19.

Horsham City won rink two 26-18. Kevin Clyne skippered it, which featured Graham McDonald, Govan Bellinger, and Colin Morrell. Sunnyside's rink, skippered by Rex Bergen, featured Rod Skurrie, Roger Macinnes, and Neil Magor.

Rink three was a 21-all tie. Stuart Cowan skippered Sunnyside's rink, which featured Chris Trotter, Paul Southcott, and Ron Tollbring. Anthony King skippered Horsham City's rink, which featured William Hogan, Geoffrey Inglis, and Ron Dolby.

In Coughlin Park's 77-52 win over Goroke/Edenhope at Coughlin Park, they won two rinks to one.

They lost rink one 14-27, skippered by Anthony Woodhead and featuring Rowan Hawkins, Robert Mewburn, and Terry Sartori. Hugh Caldow skippered the win with Richard Smith, Gerry McDonnell and Alan O'Bryan all bowling well to victory.

Despite Goroke/Edenhope's big win, rink two made it back up, winning 27-14. Craig Decker skippered the winning rink, which featured Allan Thompson, Kevin Cramer, and Mervyn Dean. Goroke/Edenhope's rink featured John Moloney, Frederick Lowe, and Wayne Caldow and was skippered by Bruce Ackland.

Rink three did the damage and secured Coughlin Park's win. Michael Ellis skippered it, and it featured Robin Shaw, Peter Beasley, and Paul O'Shannessy. They won 36-11. Geoff Lowe skippered Goroke/Edenhope's rink, which featured Travis Crawford, Barney Mulraney, and Andrew Woolsey.

Horsham Golf and Nhill remain one game behind the two unbeaten teams, winning their matches comfortably.

Horsham Golf defeated Dimboola 81-56 at Horsham Golf Bowls Club. Horsham Golf won all three rinks on the day.

Rink one, skippered by Gavin Walter and featuring Graeme O'Connor, Heath Miller and Hayden Tucker, won 36-17. Dimboola's rink was skippered by Robert Pyers and featured Wayne Albrecht, Peter Harradine and Shirley Thomas.

Rink two was closer, with Horsham Golf winning 23-19. Geoffrey Balk skippered the rink, which featured Danny Schmidt, Ken McClelland, and Craig Turvey. Greg Cook was Dimboola's skipper, and his team included Judith Albrecht, Donald Haines, and William Eldridge.

Rink three was a closer match, with Horsham Golf winning 22-20. Bradley Robinson skippered the rink which featured Denis Ballinger, Stephen Harris and Chris Mellor.

Dimboola's rink featured Mervyn Roberts, Alan Krahe, and Darryl Both and was skippered by Peter O'Loughlin.

At Kaniva, Nhill won 86-59, securing all three rinks.

Rink one, skippered by William Gebert, featuring James Dunlop, Greg Ryan and Ryder Byrnes, won 23-16 over Kaniva's rink, which featured Steve Duthie, Darren Maddern, and Paul Pearson, and skippered by Adrian Coad.

Rink two had a bigger win, winning 28-18. William King skippered the rink to victory which featured Leslie Reichelt, Ross Cramer and James Leyonhjelm. Kanvia's rink featured Christopher Larocca, Tyler Cooper, and Dianne Maddern and was skippered by Bruce Dodson.

Rink three, skippered by James Jones, featuring Brad Blackwood, James Morrison and John Brown, defeated Kaniva's rink, skippered by Jeffrey Meyer, featuring Malcolm Coutts, Colin Maddern and Janet Kuchel, 35-25.

In division two, Nhill continues to bowl strong, remaining undefeated following an 85-55 win over Sunnyside at the Nhill Bowling Club. They won all three rinks on the day.

Other division two wins came through Horsham Golf, which defeated Coughlin Park 74-64 at Horsham Golf Bowls Club, Horsham City, which defeated Goroke/Edenhope 88-66 at Edenhope Bowling Club, and Dimboola, which defeated Natimuk 82-56 at Dimboola Bowling Club.

At Sunnyside Bowling Club, Horsham Golf defeated Sunnyside 80-38 to remain unbeaten. They won all three rinks. Coughlin Park is also unbeaten, defeating Sunnyside 66-59 at Coughlin Park. They won two rinks to one.

In the other matches, Kaniva defeated Horsham City 63-57 at Kaniva Bowling Club, and Nhill defeated Coughlin Park 96-36 at Nhill Bowling Club.

MIDWEEK PENNANT

In round three on Monday, October 21, Midweek Pennant saw Horsham City remain unbeaten in division one following a 78-65 win over Nhill at Nhill Bowling Club. Sunnyside defeated Coughlin Park 94-73 at Coughlin Park and at Dimboola Bowling Club, the home side defeated Kaniva 74-61.

In division two, Horsham City and Sunnyside are the two unbeaten teams. Horsham City defeated Dimboola 62-35 at Horsham City Bowling Club, Sunnyside feated Coughlin Park in a thriller, 41-40 at Sunnyside Bowling Club, Serviceton defeated Coughlin Park 53-27 at Serviceton Memorial Bowling Club, and Natimuk defeated Goroke/Edenhope 50-29 at Natimuk Bowling Club.
