Horsham wins Rifle Pennant
The Wimmera Long Range Rifle Pennant series is held yearly between the Warracknabeal, Stawell, Horsham and Natimuk Rifle Clubs.
It consists of six home and away shoots, and then the top two Clubs shot in a Final each October to decide the winning Club for the year.
On Saturday, the Horsham Rifle Club and the Natimuk Club competed in the 2024 final at the Horsham Rifle Range. Horsham beat Natimuk 574.32 to 567.18 out of a possible 600 points.
Conditions on the day were warm, and a frontal fishtail wind of constantly varying speed and direction made it difficult for shooters to stay in the bullseye.
Consequently, scores were much lower than would normally be expected. Team coaches constantly adjusted shooters' sights to keep them in the centre of the target.
The top shooter for the day was Craig Arnel of Horsham, followed by Andy Rudolph.
Other shooters who did well in the Telescopic Sight division were Amanda Rudolph and
Marrianne Tellbach.
Trophies were also presented to the top shooters for the year. Paul Rudolph of Horsham won the yearly award, followed by George Holden of Stawell.
Other shooters to do well were Jacinta McMaster of Stawell and Wayne Skinner of
Warracknabeal and Ted Holden of Stawell.
New shooters are welcome. Find Horsham Rifle Club on Facebook.
