Horsham’s own Joshua McLean, winner of the 2022 AMA Pro Supermoto Championship, prepares to represent Australia for the first time in history in Europe later this year.

Local business owner of "Joshua McLean Motorcycles", McLean has been residing in Horsham since 2012 and has welcomed three children with his partner.

He currently holds the leading position in the Australian FIM MiniGP and Victorian Supermoto Championship and is a passionate advocate for the sport.

He has been working with Motorcycling Australia to build the sport to great heights, and for the first time, he has been able to form an Australian Supermoto team.

McLean’s continued success both domestically and internationally, winning the 2022 AMA Pro Supermoto Championship in America, has led him to be presented with a career-changing invitation to race on the world stage at the World S1GP Championship in Belgium, racing with the Honda Factory Race Team.

Following this, he will compete with his fellow team members at the World Supermoto Nationals in Castaletto De Branduzzo, Italy representing Team Australia for the first time in history.

Unlike most other Australian sports, Supermoto is a relatively new sport, so there isn’t a wide range of infrastructure for athletes to train, nor an opportunity for aspiring riders to learn and get much-needed sponsorship.

McLean’s racing career has mostly been self-funded, but he has been fortunate to receive generosity from local business owners and private individuals to help fund his previous successes.

McLean’s invitation to the World S1GP Championship and World Supermoto Nationals is the most significant opportunity for him to get his foot in the door and be one step closer to becoming a professional Supermoto racer like Lukas Hollbacher.

Although morale is high, McLean’s budget is falling short of his expenses to compete.
