More medallion mysteries surface
The details behind a gold sporting medallion presented in 1910 to Jeparit Football Club player Ben Smith have eluded the current owner, Russell Dodds of Melbourne.
Left to right: Maude Smith holds Harold Walter Smith, unknown woman, medal winner and Ellam farmer Ben Smith. The elderly woman in front is presumed to be Ben Smith's mother. Mr Smith was a great-uncle of Ron Dodds of River Heights, near Horsham, whose son Russell of Melbourne now has the medal.
