Pedestrian safety project now completed
Scott Street's pedestrian wombat crossings near Ritchies IGA and the Commonwealth Bank have been made safer with flashing amber lights being installed earlier this week and a speed limit of 20km/hr now posted at both crossings.

This was phase two of the proposed crossing upgrades put in motion by Warracknabeal Action Group's (WAG) Townscape and they worked closely with Yarriambiack Shire Council to bring their safety project to life.
Townscape committee secretary Joy Swagerman said they are very excited and happy with the way the project has turned out.
"We're wrapped that the shire has been very helpful throughout the whole process," she said.
Ms Swagerman said safety in the town has been the priority amongst the committee.
"There were too many near misses and people need to be aware," she said.
"We requested the speed limit because people aren't alert enough.
"It's what we wanted and we're really happy with that."
This project dates back to 2022 after the Townscape committee submitted a 260-signature petition to council pleading for the safer crossings.
Council invested $180,000 into the project with the remaining amount funded by grants.
Ms Swagerman said that it's always great to see another "little project completed".
"The town needed it," she said.
