Proud father witnesses daughter's second premiership
Olivia Jones-Story was not only awarded best on the court in Laharum's A-grade netball win, but she also played in her second premiership, with her father watching, after he missed out on her first one many years ago.
"My mum, dad, brother, little niece, and nephew were all there to watch me play on Saturday," Jones-Story said.
"I have lost my last eight grand finals and only won one, and my dad wasn't there for that one, so he told me to get the job done and that he is coming to watch me, and it was nice to win in front of him."
In securing the best on the court medal, Jones-Story said it could have gone to anyone and was thrilled it was her.
"The medal could have gone to anyone as the umpires have such a tough gig to pick that, and it was anyone's, including Rupanyup," Jones-Story said.
When Rupanyup came home hard, Jones-Story admitted she was nervous.
"Rupanyup are a quality side, and we knew they would come back," Jones-Story said.
"We set the game up like we wanted to, we got there, we hung on, and it's definitely the highlight of my career.
"As Bec said, it's been a long time coming. We are such good mates. She was our 'Maid of Honour' at my and Caitlin's wedding. Emalie and Maddison Iredell were also there."
"To also share it with Caitlin was special because in ten years, when we have a family, this will be one of the moments when we can say we are premiership players together, in the Jones-Story names first premiership."
