Racing success in Warracknabeal
A VERY successful race meeting was conducted by the Warracknabeal Racing Club last Friday.
The 10 race card was contested by 116 horses who raced for $270,000 in prizemoney. The club was pleased with the good attendance for a weekday meeting who enjoyed the comfortable all weather facilities.
The popularity of the meeting with the trainers is made possible due to the standard of the surface and track manager John Jess must be given full credit for this.
The track rating was a Slow 5 for the first seven races and then changed to a Good 4 which was vindicated when Bom Hombre, trained by Cindy Brander of Mildura, ran only one second outside the long standing track record in the Werner’s Electrical BM52 over 1200 metres.
Other notable fast times were with Enuffon in race thee and Realtin in the final race over 1000 metres, both under one second outside the track record.
The only multiple winner at the meeting was a riding treble for jockey Tom Madden. Tom’s win in race one, the Bet365 Maiden over 2000 metres on former French galloper Zibulon was the only Wimmera trained winner on the program.
The four year old is trained by Paul Preusker at Horsham for a group of Wimmera racing enthusiasts which include Gavin Morrow and Wimmera Racing Club director Max McGrath.
The next race meeting scheduled for Warracknabeal is on Saturday, August 17.
