Rising star Uebergang looking ahead
Natimuk's Emma Uebergang hit the ground running from her first match in A-grade netball and got better as the season went on, making her mark as one of the Wimmera's next up-and-coming stars.
The teenager made her A-grade debut in round four against Harrow Balmoral, scoring 28 goals in their first win of the season.
From there, Uebergang improved and was instrumental in their final three rounds. They secured three wins against Harrow Balmoral, Edenhope Apsley, and the Swifts, and she scored 33, 48, and 30 goals, respectively.
She also scored 48 goals against Taylors Lake in round 12 and ended the season with an unbelievable 385 goals in 13 games.
She played four games in the 17-and-under, but most weeks, she played 15-and-under and then A-grade.
Uebergang shot 233 goals in 16 games. She also won her first final, the elimination final against Pimpinio, which was also a highlight, as it was only her second final.
"It was a great experience this season, and I enjoyed it," Uebergang said.
"Being around the girls and learning many new things was excellent.
"I enjoyed A-grade as it's very different from the juniors, and I thought it was a good year."
"A-grade is a lot different as in the under-15s it's a lot slower, so at times it was difficult to adapt to the two different standards, but I adjusted and enjoyed myself."
"Finals are a lot of pressure, and it's a lot different from normal games, so experiencing a finals win and playing in more finals was a highlight and something I can learn from."
Speaking of learning and improving her netball, Uebergang highlighted many goal ring improvements.
"I need to learn passages of play and to hold my position in the ring," Uebergang said.
"I need to improve on the last-minute pops in the ring and getting away from my opponent.
"I don't have any plans for netball. I want to stay around the club and improve."
