If you'll be in Horsham next week you can have a heart health check carried out on the spot and free of charge.

Priceline Pharmacy in Horsham is one of five nationwide offering the evaluations, sponsored as a service to local communities by the Shane Warne Legacy.

Although an elite sportsman, the "King of Spin" was known to love a cigarette and a beer or several. He died of a heart attack in March 2022, aged just 52.

In Warnie's memory, the not-for-profit organisation now provides SiSU health stations that tour the country to perform fast, accurate heart health assessments at no cost to participants.

It takes only four minutes to have factors including heart rate, blood pressure, body mass index, body fat, heart age, cholesterol and diabetes risk measured, giving invaluable insight into what might be going on beneath the surface.

The results are delivered directly to a mobile phone via the dedicated SiSU Health app that can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play or by scanning a QR code at the test station.

The mobile health station will be in Horsham until the middle of next week.

On Friday and Saturday it will be in Horsham Plaza from 9am to 4pm.

On Sunday, June 9, it will be at Smoke on the Water at Maydale Reserve between noon and 7pm.

On Wednesday, June 12, checks will be offered at the GWM Water offices in McLachlan Street between 9am and 4pm, and the following day, Thursday June 13, students, faculty and members of the public will be encouraged to take advantage of the service at Federation University from 9am until 4pm.

No appointments are needed - and the service is continuing to operate every day on a drop-in basis at Priceline Pharmacy in Darlot Street.

While the on-the-spot testing is not intended to be a substitute for visiting a GP, it is a first step for anyone who has not had a medical check-up recently, and may be in the dark as to the condition of their cardiovascular system.

All personal data collected is kept strictly confidential, and fully de-identified results are used in furthering Australian cardiovascular health research.

Every 12 minutes an Australian dies from cardiovascular disease, even though most heart attacks and strokes are preventable.
