Thirteen staff members have been nominated to be dunked in icy water at 1pm on Friday June 7, ahead of the MCG’s Big Freeze event.

VCE VM teacher Mick Williamson said this event was entirely run by the students.

“They’re responsible for organising it, and the social media promotion,” Mr Williamson said.

“It’s a chance for them to develop leadership, social awareness and teamwork.”

Students have already started selling beanies for $25 during recess and lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

EFTPOS and cash payments are accepted.

“We have 100 beanies to sell - if we run out, we’ll order more,” Mr Williamson said.

Friday’s event will also coincide with footy colours day, and the corresponding gold coin donation from every participating student will also be donated to the Fight MND cause.

“The students are really engaged with it, which is great,” Mr Williamson said.

An invitation has been extended to all Education Precinct students and staff who wish to attend the entertaining lunchtime event.
