They scored 63 total points and won ahead of Bendigo, who scored 57. Shepparton finished in third with 52 points.

The team consisted of Horsham locals Jiedan Young, Logan Young, and Dakota Smith. They secured the other members in a draft: Zoe Andrews (Bendigo), Chloe Gee (Geelong), and Mitchell Armstrong from Shepparton.

Teams consisted of three girls and three boys and were played over 14 rounds with country teams around Victoria: Ballarat, Warrnambool, Latrobe Valley, Sunraysia, Bendigo, and Shepparton.

Warren Young, the team manager, said he was proud of the team's performance.

"We had a similar team to last year, and it's been long since we last won this tournament," Young said.

"The team led from start to finish, and at times, teams came back at us, but we didn't drop a game all weekend, and I am pretty proud of that."

Logan Young was awarded an all-star medal which is given to the top two highest average boys and girls over the weekend. Logan was the top all-star with an average of 210.

This Saturday, November 2, Horsham will send two teams to two tournaments.

The Junior team that won the Country Cup will attend the Junior Goldpin competition, which will be held at Keon Park and feature all Goldpin clubs in Victoria, including Melbourne.

The team only has one change, with Mildura's Oakley McKinnon coming in for Mitchell Armstrong.

Mildura isn't sending a team, so Horsham decided to make the change, which, according to Young, strengthens the team.

"This will be the first time we are at this tournament, and it's pretty big and much different from the Country Cup as it involves bigger clubs," Young said.

"Oakley strengthens our team, and he is a very handy bowler. It's not that Mitchell didn't bowl well; he did, and he is a great young bowler. It's not something we go to every year, so we decided to be as strong as we could.

"Shepparton will probably send a team so Mitchell could be bowling for them."

Horsham will also send a team to the Senior Sheild, which is held in Shepparton. It's similar to the Country Cup but involves players aged 45 and over.

The team comprises Warren Young, Darren Wishart, John Thierry, Marty Sandford, Wayne Hallam, Michelle Jones, Georgena Gray, Helen Dwan, Dot McMaster and Carol Wishart.

Young is looking forward to it.

"It's the first senior shield for us, and I don't think we have had a great deal of success in the past, so hopefully, we can go alright and have a bit of a go," Young said.

Horsham Lanes and Games manager Wayne Watkins said that more players are needed while the club is generating success.

"We haven't got a lot of juniors, so we desperately want to see more juniors involved," Watkins said.

"The kids are fired up for this weekend, and we will see how we go."
