Volleyball Horsham gears up for new season

The momentum is already building for the new volleyball season in Horsham, and it’s just over three weeks away from starting.

That momentum comes from the Phantoms trials commencing on Saturday in Bendigo, in which Volleyball Horsham members indicated their desire to participate. It also comes from the level of enquiry about when the season starts on social media and publicly, as well as the positive way the year finished in 2024.

While some faces will be missing as another batch of hopefuls travels to different places in the state to start university, another young group will get their chance to compete in the “A” grade men’s and women’s competitions and test their development against some of the strongest players in the state.

The same can be said for a young group of female players who are champing at the bit to test their development as they progress through to the Women’s “A” grade competition, where they will face off against some experienced veterans.

Volleyball Horsham is gearing up for another massive season of volleyball across seven divisions of competition, with play pencilled in for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday evenings.

With school returning for most students this week, information will be available for those who want to try volleyball.

School is where most students have their first experience of many different sports that are on offer in the community, and to those teachers who help their students develop their love of whatever sport they choose, on behalf of these sporting opportunities, we say thanks.

To assist not just students but anyone in the community who wishes to give volleyball a try, Volleyball Horsham will host two Come and Try nights at the home of volleyball in Horsham, St Brigid’s College stadium on Wednesday, February 5, from 6pm and the following Wednesday from 530pm.

There is no cost to participate, and if nothing else, having fun is assured.

For the uninitiated, junior volleyball is played on Monday evenings from around 5pm.

This competition suits upper primary and lower secondary students. That is followed by the “B” and “C” grade competitions, which suit older adults and those students who have progressed in their game.

Tuesday nights are the night for our “A” Reserve competition, and it would suit those who have progressed their game and have a level of competitiveness when they play.

Wednesday nights are a big night for volleyball at St Brigid’s. Our academy athletes training starts at 430pm, followed by our Women’s “A” and “B” grades, as well as our flagship “A” grade competition.

Volleyball Horsham encourages anyone interested in participating in any of our competitions to touch base with their teacher contacts at all our schools, attend any of the two Come and Try nights or just drop an enquiry onto our website or social media platforms, and we will welcome your enquiry and hopefully try and place you in a competition that suits.

Further enquiries can be submitted to info@volleyballhorsham.com.au.
