On Monday night the seniors kicked off their domestic basketball competition at the Warracknabeal Leisure Centre.
In the men's competition, the Slabs had a comprehensive 54-37 win over the Gazelles to open their season with Christopher Kellett top scoring with 11 points and Connor McGinniss also pivotal with 10.
The Cubs beat the Wildcats 36-28. They had an even spread of point scorers with Daniel Hunter leading the way on 8 points and Brad Krahe and Lachlan Stein on 6 a-piece. For the Wildcats, Timothy McCormick top scored with 11.
The Wildcats are going to get vital experience in between their representative commitments.
In the final match the Olympics had a thrilling 3 point victory over the Katz. The Katz led by 7 points at half time but a 23 to 13 point second half helped the Olympics to a 39-36 win. Charlie Penny was excellent for the victors scoring 27 points. Jed Koschitzke scored 17 for the Katz.
In the women's competition the Katz had an easy 15 point win over the Cubs. Kirrilee Rowe top scored with 10 points whilst Issy Allan had 9 and Airlie Garlick and Jayne Shannon contributed with 8 a-piece in the 39-24 win. For the Cubs Satine Malcolm, Matilda Shannon and Rikki Nitschke all scored 6 points.
In the other match it was the Olympics winning by 46 points over the Slabs. Ava Koschitzke top scored for the game with 18 points with Ciara Davis also scoring 10 for the Olympics in the 60-14 win.
The scorers for the Slabs were Darlene Goodwin with 8, Lea Kaluza with 4 and Coco Malcolm with 2.
