WMCA defeat GCA

The Wimmera Mallee Cricket Association (WMCA) defeated the Grampians Cricket Association (GCA) by four wickets at Donald Recreation Reserve on Sunday, February 9.

After winning the toss and batting, the GCA made 6/190 off their 40 overs, with Zachary Marrow starring with 67 (96) in an innings that featured seven fours and one six. Matt Heffer, 36 (53), and Aiden Graveson, 30 (34), also played a solid role with the bat.

Dylan Shelley was the pick of the bowlers for the WMCA, taking 3/15 (4).

Chasing 191 for victory, the WMCA innings started well with Jimmy Duxson, Cooper Anderson and Ty Colbert playing well at the top of the order.

Nic Baird, however, was the star for the WMCA, scoring 68 (58) in an innings that featured eight fours and two sixes. When he fell, Koby Westerland and Dylan Shelley guided the WMCA to victory with an unbeaten 16 and 22, respectively, chasing the total down in 36 overs, finishing at 6/191.

Marrow was the pick of the GCA bowlers with 2/61 (8).
